This downloadable PDF knitting pattern from Sirdar includes instructions for two distinct baby blankets, each with its own character, construction method, and finished dimensions. Both designs are worked in Sirdar Snuggly Kisses DK, a soft double knit yarn perfectly suited to delicate baby projects. Whether you are drawn to the intricate interlocking geometry of entrelac or the gentle botanical charm of a leaf motif, this pattern offers a rewarding make for knitters looking to create a treasured handmade gift or nursery essential.
The Entrelac Blanket is a baby blanket measuring approximately 64 x 80 cm (25¼ x 31½ inches). It is a generously sized piece that makes an ideal pram blanket, cot blanket, or play mat covering for a newborn or young baby.
Entrelac is a captivating knitting technique that creates a woven, basketweave-like fabric from a series of individual squares or rectangles knitted directly onto one another. Rather than working across the full width of the blanket in rows, the knitter builds up diagonal blocks, picking up stitches along the edges of previously completed squares to begin each new one. The result is a richly textured, diagonal grid that looks impressively complex but is constructed one block at a time. This method is particularly satisfying for knitters who enjoy a structured, rhythmic process with a dramatic visual payoff.
The Leaf Square Blanket is a baby blanket measuring approximately 54 x 77 cm (21¼ x 30¼ inches). Its slightly narrower, longer proportions make it well suited for use in a pram or moses basket, and the leaf motif detailing gives it a timeless, heirloom quality.
As the name suggests, this blanket is built from individual knitted squares that are joined together to form the finished fabric. Each square features a leaf motif, which is created using lace knitting techniques. Lace knitting in this context involves pairing yarn-over increases with corresponding decreases to form the open, decorative leaf shape within each square. Working in modules allows knitters to manage the project in small, portable sections before assembling the finished blanket.

Loving the book great patterns easy to read and follow, need to sell the right yarn to match the book found it difficult to purchase Sirdar snuggle 4ply
Working on this one(Leaf-Square) . Love this pattern, I made a similar blanket over 50 years ago and my mother crocheted around the edge for me. I think II will also crochet around the edge rather and pick up all the stitches.
The pattern was correct and just what I needed
Pattern is easy to use, I have knitted this before but misplaced the pattern so had to buy it again. Easy to knit the squares, you can adjust the size if you wish. Recommend this pattern.
