Product Description
Moonlight Shadow is a fresh summer t-shirt. It has a wide and not too deep V neck and a boxy line. Lino, by Borgo de’ Pazzi makes it fresh and elegant, perfect for your spare time as well for more formal occasions. An interesting lace motif decorates the raglans. I strongly recommend to use the original yarn, it's shiny, fresh, easy to work with and choosing another yarn (a cotton, perhaps) won't give you te same result.
Moonlight Shadow Knit Top by Annalisa Dione
What is Being Made
Moonlight Shadow is a downloadable knitting pattern for a top-weight garment designed by independent designer Annalisa Dione. This intermediate-level knit project is suitable for knitters with some experience looking to expand their skill set with a refined, wearable piece.
Craft and Primary Technique
This pattern is designed for knitting, the primary craft method used throughout the project. The garment is constructed using circular needles, which allow for seamless or in-the-round knitting techniques that create a polished, professional finish.
Stitches and Stitch Techniques Used
The Moonlight Shadow pattern incorporates several fundamental and intermediate knitting stitches and techniques:
- Knit stitch (st) – the foundational stitch used throughout the garment construction
- Cast on (CO) – the method used to create the initial live stitches on the needle
- M1L (left leaning increase) – an invisible increase worked by inserting the left-hand needle from front to back under the strand of yarn running between the stitch just worked and the next stitch, then knitting through the back loop to create a left-leaning directional increase
- M1R (right leaning increase) – a complementary increase technique where the left-hand needle is inserted from back to front under the running strand, with the new stitch worked through the front loop to create a right-leaning directional increase
These increases are strategically placed throughout the pattern to shape the garment and create shaping details that enhance the overall design aesthetic.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Moonlight Shadow pattern is designed to be worked in sport weight yarn, a lightweight yarn category that creates delicate, breathable fabric suitable for warm-weather tops. The pattern specifies Lino by Borgo De' Pazzi, a premium yarn choice made from 100% linen. This natural fiber selection provides excellent drape, breathability, and a sophisticated appearance ideal for refined knitwear.
The pattern is available in multiple sizes, requiring 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 balls of yarn depending on the desired finished size. Each ball contains 50 grams and 165 meters of yarn, allowing knitters to calculate yardage requirements for their chosen size.
Tools and Notions Required
- Circular needles in 3.00 mm and 2.75 mm sizes – or needles suitable to obtain the indicated gauge specified in the pattern
- Tapestry needle – for weaving in yarn ends and finishing the garment
- 8 stitch markers – for tracking pattern repeats and shaping points throughout the knitting process
- Spare cables or waste yarn – to hold stitches temporarily during construction or for future modifications
Difficulty Level
Moonlight Shadow is rated as an intermediate difficulty pattern, making it appropriate for knitters who have mastered basic stitches and are comfortable working with circular needles and following more complex shaping instructions. The use of directional increases and stitch marker placement requires attention to detail and pattern reading skills.
