Product Description
The Flores Shawl is worked the top-down in two stitch patterns creating an asymmetrical look. Different pattern on each side of row provide an interesting to crochet project. One side of the row is worked in double crochet stitches while the other side is worked in mesh stitch. This project can be easily adapted to a lager or smaller size by changing the pattern repeats. The sample shown use two skeins of fingering weight yarn, but this shawl will look awesome in heavier yarn too. An adventuorous beginner could happily make this shawl, and more experienced crocheters will also enjoy this intuitive pattern.

Flores Shawl by MyCrochetory
What is Being Made
The Flores Shawl is a crocheted triangular shawl designed by Sylwia Kawczyńska of MyCrochetory. This beginner-friendly project creates a large, elegant wrap with a generous wingspan of 182cm and center depth of 83cm after blocking, making it suitable for layering or wearing as a statement accessory.
Crochet Techniques Used
This shawl pattern employs fundamental crochet techniques appropriate for beginner and beginner-plus level crafters. The construction follows a stitch chart that guides the shaping and expansion of the triangular silhouette. The pattern uses row-by-row instructions with stitch counts provided in parentheses for each row to help crafters track their progress and maintain proper shaping throughout the project.
Stitches Used
The Flores Shawl incorporates essential crochet stitches that form the foundation of the design:
- Chain stitch (ch) – used to create foundation chains and spaces within the pattern
- Single crochet (sc) – a basic short stitch for structure and detail
- Double crochet (dc) – a taller stitch used to build height and create the shawl's flowing sections
- Slip stitch (sl st) – used to join rounds or transition between sections
- Yarn over (yo) – the fundamental hand motion that creates loops and tension control
- Spaces (sp) – openwork areas created between stitches for an airy, lace-like effect
Materials and Tools
The Flores Shawl pattern calls for specific materials to achieve the intended drape, warmth, and finished dimensions:
- Yarn: SCHEEPJES Our Tribe in the "It's all in a Nutshell" (973) colorway, consisting of 2 skeins totaling 100g with 420 meters of yardage. This yarn is a blend of 70% Merino Superwash and 30% Polyamide, available in 3-ply and 4-ply weights, providing softness, durability, and easy care properties.
- Crochet hook: Size 3.5mm, with the option to adjust up or down to achieve the correct gauge and desired fabric density
- Tapestry needle: For weaving in and hiding yarn ends after completion
- Scissors: For cutting yarn
Gauge and Finished Dimensions
After blocking, the Flores Shawl measures 182cm in wingspan and 83cm in center depth. Gauge is measured after blocking to account for the natural stretching and settling of the crochet fabric. Crafters are advised to adjust their hook size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge, ensuring their finished shawl matches the intended dimensions and drape.
Pattern Format
This is a downloadable PDF pattern that includes a stitch chart to guide the construction process. The pattern provides row-by-row instructions with stitch counts in parentheses, making it accessible for beginners while offering enough detail for consistent results.
