Tiny Squirrel in an Acorn Cup

TINY SQUIRREL - These must be some of the smallest knitted squirrels you’ll ever see. They have hazelnut-sized heads and walnut-sized bodies. To keep them safe their mothers pop them into acorn cup baskets which they hang in trees. QUICK and EASY to knit these are great little fund raisers at craft fairs and bazaars.

SIZE: 6cm (2.5in)

NEEDLES: Squirrel - 2.75mm needles (US 2). Basket - 3.25mm needles (US 3).

YARN: Very small amounts of double knitting yarn in a variety of colours (USA use light worsted/Australia - 8 ply).

This pattern was created and written by knitwear designer Wendy Phillips for the Westmorland Red Squirrel Society which is a British Registered Charity (No.1144416). All proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be used by the charity to help maintain a healthy population of red squirrels in South East Cumbria (English Lake District).
