Amigurumi Winston Panda the Ami by Mary's Amiland
What is Being Made
Amigurumi Winston Panda the Ami is a stuffed toy panda character designed by Mary's Amiland. This crocheted creation stands approximately 20 cm (7.8 inches) high without ears and measures 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide. The design features a charming blue panda with coordinating accessories including a small bag and scarf, making it an ideal handmade gift or decorative piece for craft enthusiasts.
Crochet Techniques and Construction
This intermediate-level amigurumi project employs fundamental crochet techniques for creating three-dimensional stuffed toys. The panda is crocheted in one piece, which streamlines the construction process and minimizes the amount of finishing work required. The design requires only minimal sewing, making it accessible for crocheters who prefer to focus on the crocheting aspect rather than extensive assembly.
Stitches and Crochet Methods
While specific stitch names are not detailed in the pattern documentation, amigurumi construction typically relies on fundamental crochet stitches including single crochet for tight, dense fabric that holds stuffing securely. The one-piece construction method suggests the use of continuous rounds and strategic increases and decreases to shape the panda's body, head, ears, and limbs into their final three-dimensional form.

Design Inspiration and Unique Features
Winston Panda the Ami was created in January 2020 by Mary's Amiland as a fresh take on the popular amigurumi panda design. Rather than using traditional black yarn, the designer chose blue as the primary color to create something distinctly different from other crochet pandas available online. This color choice not only makes Winston visually unique but also reflects the designer's preference for working with alternative yarn colors. The inclusion of coordinating accessories—a small brown and green bag plus a pink scarf—adds personality and play value to the finished toy.
