Product Description
Due to requests from knitters to have my ‘Lillesand Cardigan’ made available in sweater…. here it is. The sweater is worked in the round from the top down, increasing throughout the yoke. The sleeve stitches are placed on hold, they will be picked up and completed after the body of the sweater has been worked. Sweater has a simple colour work bands around the yoke, sleeve cuffs and at the bottom. This sweater would be great for every day wear, simple and stylish, sure to become your fav. No seaming required. Pattern has been test knitted and technical edited. I would class this pattern suitable for the for the INTERMEDIATE knitter, however, also for the ADVANCED beginner who is comfortable working with circular needles, and very simple stranding / fair isle knitting.

Binx Sweater P174 by OGE Knitwear Designs
What is Being Made
The Binx Sweater is a knitted pullover sweater designed by OGE Knitwear Designs in an intermediate skill level. This pattern offers comprehensive sizing across both children and adult ranges, from 1-2 years through XXL adult sizes, making it a versatile wardrobe staple suitable for multiple body types and ages. The sweater features a classic construction with set-in sleeves and a finished hem.
Knitting Techniques Used
The Binx Sweater employs fundamental knitting construction methods appropriate for intermediate knitters. The pattern utilizes circular needle knitting for the body and flat sections, combined with double-pointed needles (DPNs) for smaller circumference areas such as cuffs and necklines. This mixed-needle approach allows for seamless or nearly seamless construction in the round, a hallmark of modern sweater design that minimizes finishing work and creates a polished final garment.
Stitches and Stitch Details
While specific stitch patterns are not detailed in the provided pattern excerpt, the sweater is constructed using Double Knit yarn weight, which typically involves standard knit and purl stitches worked in stockinette stitch or similar foundational stitch patterns. The intermediate difficulty rating suggests the pattern may incorporate basic shaping techniques such as increases and decreases for armhole and neck shaping, as well as ribbing for cuffs and waistbands to provide structure and elasticity.
Materials and Tools Required
The Binx Sweater pattern calls for the following needle sizes and types:
- 4 mm (U.S. 6, UK 8) circular needle in 41 cm (16 inch) length
- 4 mm (U.S. 6, UK 8) circular needle in 74 cm (29 inch) length
- 4 mm (U.S. 6, UK 8) double-pointed needles (DPNs)
- 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) needles for specific sections
The yarn weight is Double Knit (DK) / Light Worsted, a medium-weight yarn that knits at a moderate gauge. This weight provides excellent drape and wearability while remaining quick enough to complete in a reasonable timeframe, making it ideal for a sweater project.
Size Range and Fit
The Binx Sweater accommodates an extensive range of sizes. Children's sizes span from 1-2 years with a 57 cm chest measurement through 11-12 years at 80 cm chest. Adult sizing ranges from XS (80 cm chest) through XXL (125 cm chest). Length measurements vary from 34 cm for the smallest children's size to 64.5 cm for adult sizes, with sleeve length adjusting from 22.5 cm for toddlers to 44 cm for all adult sizes. Upper arm circumference ranges from 22 cm to 39 cm across the full size range, ensuring proper fit across diverse body proportions.
