Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran is a 100% acrylic aran, soft enough for children's clothes and hard-wearing enough for the blankets and toys that get used every day. Paintbox Yarns is our own brand, designed in house.
Aran weight is the fast lane: it knits up quickly on 5.00mm needles without turning bulky, so jumpers, cardigans and throws grow visibly while still holding a neat, even fabric. Being acrylic, it takes a machine wash and a low tumble dry, which is the practical difference between a handmade blanket that gets used and one that stays in the cupboard.
The shades are developed as a coordinated palette rather than one-offs, so stripes, granny squares, colourwork and toys can be planned across the range and matched with confidence. The yarn is OEKO-TEX certified.
Specifications: 100g balls, 184m (201yds). Tension 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm on 5.00mm (US 8) needles; 5.00mm (H) crochet hook. Machine wash at 30°C, tumble dry on low, cool iron, do not bleach. Made in Turkey.

Perfect match for my blanket
The new yarn matched perfectly with what I had been using and purchased quite a long time ago. I use it for a sampler blanket that used three shades of gray and cream. When I picked the blanket up again, it looked as good as new with no difference in the part already done and the new part. It's lovely, sturdy but soft.
Lovely yarn for a special project
I like the good quality yarn. It’s lovely to knit with, it doesn’t split, and it’s nice and soft. The yarn holds its shape while working with it, especially when I’m using the cable needle. I’m knitting a sweater for my granddaughter, and the pattern is very easy to follow. I haven’t quite finished my project yet. I can’t wait to get it finished. I think my granddaughter will love it.
Beautiful yarn for easy crocheting
It’s so easy to crochet with and so soft. I’m making a C2C blanket and it’s working up beautifully. It’s for me I’m going to have it on my bed. I love the yarn and all the lovely colours.
Easy to use for beautiful projects
I love the Paintbox range and have quite a few different colors in the Aran. I'm making a waffle lap blanket for my elderly neighbour for Christmas. It's so easy; only 2 rows make the pattern.

Great yarn for knitting
I'm knitting a jumper, and so far it's knitting up nicely. I like the colour range mainly. It's really nice to work with, it's soft and consistent in colour.
Reliable yarn for complex projects
I have used this make of yarn several times, and it always knits up well and is reasonably priced. I have tackled several ladies fashion projects with fairly complex patterns, and they always produce a good completed article with perfect tension. It must boil down to the fiber of the yarn.
Lovely to knit with - Paintbox Aran Yarn.
This is my first time knitting with paintbox (Aran) yarn. It is lovely to work with and the Aran pattern stands out well. There have been no knots in the yarn either. I found the 20 ball pack to be excellent value and would certainly purchase in the future. I haven’t had the opportunity to wash yet but 🤞 when I do hopefully it will wash well. The only issue I had was with delivery. Having been notified the package would be delivered between specific hours on specific days I made myself...
