So far I’m on row 26 out of 44 on the circular lace shawl . I’m using a worsted yarn not a DK as I’m stash busting. The blanket will be much bigger than the 49 1/2 inches (125 cm) I’m enjoying it though,it’s keeping me warm as I’m making it.

This downloadable PDF from Sirdar contains instructions for three separate crochet designs suitable for babies and young children: a Blanket with Squares, a Blanket with Flower Pattern, and a Circular Shawl. All three projects are rated as beginner level, making this an ideal pattern collection for those who are new to crochet or looking for accessible, satisfying makes. Each design is worked in Sirdar Snuggly DK, a soft double knitting weight yarn perfectly suited to baby items.
The first design is a classic blanket constructed from individual squares, measuring approximately 58 x 73 cm (22¾ x 28¾ inches) when complete. This type of construction is a wonderful introduction to crochet for beginners, as each square is worked as a small, manageable unit before being joined together to form the finished blanket.
The second design is a Blanket with Flower Pattern, measuring 61 x 76 cm (24 x 30 inches). This design introduces a repeating floral motif across the fabric, giving the finished blanket a decorative, textured appearance that is still very achievable for beginner crocheters. Flower-based crochet patterns typically involve working in the round to create petal formations, then incorporating these motifs into a cohesive layout.
The third and most substantial design in this collection is a Circular Shawl with a diameter of approximately 125 cm (49½ inches). Worked outward from a central point, circular crochet shawls are a rewarding project that grows visibly with every round. The generous size makes this shawl suitable as a wrap, a pram cover, or a decorative throw. At beginner level, this design introduces working in the round — a core crochet skill — in a gentle and structured way.
