My Daisies for Days Blanket is the blanket version of my Daisies for Days Pillow. These projects are inspired by the daisy garland that I named my crochet Instagram after! It is the perfect blanket for spring and summer because it is made with cotton yarn, and the gaps between the hexagons ensure that it is lightweight. It is composed of nine rows of hexagons, and the join as you go method is utilized to join them. There are photos throughout the pattern to help you with all of the steps! I recently updated the pdf to include a chart for the hexagons. I used Blue Sky Fibers organic worsted cotton yarn, but any worsted weight yarn will work. You will need one skein of the color of the centers of the flowers, two skeins of the color of the petals, and eight skeins of the background color. The finished blanket is 53 by 38 in, but you could add or subtract rows as you please to make it the desired size!
The Daisies for Days Blanket is a crochet blanket inspired by daisy garland motifs, designed as the blanket version of the coordinating Daisies for Days Pillow. This intermediate-level project is ideal for spring and summer use, featuring a lightweight construction perfect for warm-weather comfort. The blanket is composed of nine rows of hexagonal motifs arranged in a structured grid pattern, creating an airy, open design with intentional gaps between hexagons that enhance breathability.
This is a full-sized crochet blanket constructed from multiple hexagonal motifs joined together. The blanket contains a total of fifty full-sized hexagons and eight half hexagons positioned strategically along the edges. The half hexagons are placed at the ends of even-numbered rows to create straight, finished edges throughout the blanket. Once all hexagons are joined, a border is added to complete the finished piece and frame the daisy-inspired design.
While specific stitch abbreviations are not detailed in the provided pattern excerpt, the project utilizes standard crochet stitches appropriate for creating hexagonal motifs and borders. The pattern includes charts for both the full-sized hexagons and half hexagons, providing visual guidance for stitch placement and construction sequences throughout the project.
This blanket is designed to be worked in worsted weight yarn, with the original pattern using Blue Sky Fibers organic worsted cotton yarn. Cotton yarn is specifically chosen for this project because it creates a breathable, lightweight fabric ideal for spring and summer blankets. Any worsted weight yarn will work for this pattern, allowing crafters flexibility in fiber choice while maintaining the intended drape and weight of the finished blanket. The pattern is provided in downloadable PDF format and includes charts and step-by-step pictures to guide you through all construction phases.
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with some experience who are comfortable working with motifs, joining techniques, and following charts. The join as you go method and hexagonal construction provide a good skill-building opportunity for intermediate-level makers.
