E-reader Cover Knitting Pattern by Amanda Berry

What is Being Made

This is a protective knitting pattern designed to create a custom e-reader cover sized to fit a Kindle e-reader or similar device measuring 16.5cm x 11.5cm. The cover provides cushioning and protection for portable electronic devices through its construction method and stitch choice.

Techniques Used

The e-reader cover is worked using fundamental knitting techniques suitable for intermediate-level crafters. The pattern is worked flat, meaning all pieces are knitted back and forth on a pair of needles rather than in the round. A regular knitted cast on is used to begin the project at the top edge. The pattern emphasizes that tension is not critical for this particular project, making it forgiving for knitters still developing consistent gauge.

Stitches Used

The primary stitch technique featured in this cover is fisherman's rib, a chunky rib pattern that creates extra padding and protection for your device. Fisherman's rib is a textured stitch pattern that produces a thick, dimensional fabric ideal for protective garments and accessories. The pattern begins with 50 stitches cast on to establish the appropriate width for the cover.
