Product Description
“KP Yoke – Rasen” is a circular yoke pullover with spiral stairs pattern on the yoke. You can choose the sleeve length from two options – 3/4 or long. It is worked from the top down seamlessly. After several short rows, the yoke is worked in the round with Rasen (spiral stairs) pattern, and the lower body is knit in A-line shape in one piece in the round. Sleeves stitches, set aside at the underarm, are worked down in the round to 3/4 or full length and box pleats are added to 3/4 sleeves.
KP Yoke - Rasen Circular Yoke Pullover by Ririko
Garment Overview
KP Yoke - Rasen is a circular yoke pullover sweater designed by Ririko, featuring a distinctive spiral stairs pattern on the yoke. This intermediate-level knitting project offers versatile styling options with two sleeve length choices—3/4 length or long sleeves—making it suitable for both feminine and casual wear. The design uses a top-down construction method, allowing for easy customization and fitting adjustments during the knitting process.
Sizing and Finished Measurements
The pattern includes 11 sizes with bust circumferences ranging from 90.5 cm (35½") to 160 cm (63"), accommodating a wide range of body types. The sweater features different length options: the front length from underarm to hem ranges from 26 cm (10¼") in smaller sizes to 31 cm (12¼") in larger sizes, while the back length extends from 29 cm (11½") to 34 cm (13½"). The pattern recommends 8 to 15 cm (3¼ to 6") of positive ease at the bust for a comfortable fit.
Knitting Techniques and Construction
This sweater employs circular yoke construction, a popular top-down knitting method that begins with stitches cast on at the neckline and increases outward in a circular pattern. The spiral stairs motif is integrated into the yoke design, creating visual interest through strategic increases and pattern placement. The two-sleeve-length options allow knitters to choose between 3/4 sleeves for warmer-weather versatility or long sleeves for cooler seasons, all within a single pattern.
Yarn and Materials
The pattern recommends Camellia Fiber Company Flax Fingering yarn, a luxury blend containing 50% alpaca, 25% silk, and 25% linen. This yarn weight classification is 4-ply fingering weight, providing a delicate drape and refined finish suitable for the detailed yoke patterning. The fiber blend creates a garment with excellent breathability, natural sheen from the silk content, and the warmth of alpaca, making it an ideal choice for a versatile pullover that transitions well across seasons.
Skill Level
Rated as an intermediate-level project, KP Yoke - Rasen is appropriate for knitters with foundational skills in circular knitting, basic colorwork or stitch pattern reading, and yoke construction techniques. The spiral stairs pattern requires attention to stitch placement and increases, making it suitable for knitters ready to advance beyond basic stockinette projects.
