Product Description
This cardigan is worked from the top down and is designed to be seamless. You work the body and sleeves in one piece down to the armholes, followed by each sleeve. I found it easiest to leave the live stitches for the sleeves on a piece of waste yarn
This pattern is also available as ‘Line Dried Mini-Me’, in sizes 6 - 12 months up to 14 years

Line Dried Cardigan by Sue Stratford
What Is Being Made
Line Dried is a downloadable knitting pattern for a cardigan designed by Sue Stratford. This garment is a classic, fitted cardigan worked from the top down, offering eight size options ranging from 32¼ inches to 47 inches in bust measurement. The cardigan is designed to be worn with zero ease, meaning you should select your size based on your actual bust measurement for a close, tailored fit.
Sizing and Finished Measurements
The Line Dried cardigan accommodates a wide range of body sizes with the following finished measurements:
- Bust (when closed): 82 to 119 cm (32¼ to 47 inches)
- Side seam length (hem to underarm): 34.5 cm for sizes XS through M, and 37.5 cm for sizes L and XL (13½ to 14¾ inches)

- Wrist circumference: 20 to 24 cm (8 to 9½ inches)
- Sleeve length: 42.5 to 48.5 cm (16¾ to 19 inches)

Construction Method
The Line Dried cardigan is constructed using a top-down knitting method. This approach begins at the neckline and works downward toward the hem, allowing knitters to try on the garment as they work and easily adjust the length to their preference. Top-down construction is particularly advantageous for fitted cardigans as it provides flexibility in customizing the final fit.
Craft and Techniques
This pattern is suitable for beginner-level knitters, making it an excellent choice for those new to cardigan construction. The techniques employed in Line Dried focus on fundamental knitting skills, allowing crafters to build confidence while creating a wearable, professional-looking garment.
Yarn and Materials
The Line Dried cardigan is designed to be worked in DK weight yarn, a lightweight yarn that creates a fabric with excellent drape and definition. DK weight is versatile and widely available, making it accessible for most knitters. The pattern requires standard knitting needles appropriate for DK weight yarn, along with basic notions typical for cardigan construction.
Pattern Format
Line Dried is offered as a downloadable PDF pattern, providing immediate access to the complete instructions. This format allows knitters to print the pattern, view it on digital devices, or save it for future reference.
