Product Description

Make it all your own!

What could be better than a personalized knitting bag? This pattern comes with ready-made charts for the beautiful design shown in the picture, but also personalisable charts and a knitted font so you can add your own favourite quote, or design your own colourwork pattern!

Knitted mostly in the round and featuring stabilizing i-cord detailing, this bag will not bend and bow with your knitting but hold your favourite needles and project-on-the-go with ease. Good for a bit of colourplay - it also makes a great purse, or so I’m told by my more fashionable friends.

Mine, All Mine Felted Knitting Bag by Petitchoufleur Knits

Project Overview

Mine, All Mine is a personalised felted knitting bag designed by Petitchoufleur Knits and knitted by Gwen Wagner-Adair. This intermediate-level knitting project creates a functional, zippered storage bag that can be customized with your own text and design using the included charts and font. The pattern combines colorwork techniques with felting to produce a durable, structured bag suitable for storing knitting supplies and other materials.

What Is Being Made

This project produces a felted knitting bag featuring a zipper closure and custom personalization options. The bag is constructed using two-color knitting with a main color body and contrasting color accents. An I-cord and handles are incorporated into the design, with the I-cord serving as a functional detail and the handles providing carrying capability. The finished bag is felted to create a sturdy, compact final product with defined dimensions and professional finishing.

Knitting Techniques and Stitches

  • Colorwork knitting: The pattern uses two contrasting colors (main color and contrast color) to create a personalized design with charts provided for customization
  • I-cord construction: A twisted cord is knitted separately using the contrast color yarn, requiring approximately 1.5 balls of yarn
  • Circular knitting: The main bag body is worked on circular needles, allowing for seamless construction
  • Knit 2 together (K2tog): Decreases are used to shape the bag during construction
  • Felting: After knitting is complete, the bag is felted at 65°C to compress the fabric, create structure, and produce the final finished dimensions
  • Zipper insertion: A 12-inch (30cm) zipper is sewn into the finished felted bag for closure

Materials and Yarn Specifications

Yarn Requirements: This pattern uses super-chunky weight yarn in two colors. The main color requires 6 balls of Twilley's Freedom Wool in purple (100% wool; 54 yards per 50g skein). The contrast color requires 6 balls of Twilley's Freedom Wool in lime green (100% wool; 54 yards per 50g skein). The I-cord uses approximately 1.5 balls of the contrast color yarn, while the handles use approximately 1 ball of contrast color yarn.

Important Yarn Consideration: A feltable wool must be used for this pattern, as not all yarns will felt properly. The sample was felted at 65°C, though felted gauge may vary depending on specific yarn fiber content and felting conditions. Swatching is recommended to ensure your gauge matches the pattern after felting, as there may be some variation in final dimensions.

Needles and Notions

  • Needles: 10mm/US15 circular needle (80cm/32 inches) for main construction; 8mm/US11 circular needle (80cm/32 inches) for cast-on; one set of 10mm/US15 double-pointed needles for I-cord
  • Notions: 5 locking stitch markers (including one in an alternative color to designate the center of round marker); 12-inch (30cm) zipper in a color matching the main color yarn

Pattern Features

This downloadable PDF pattern includes charts for creating your personalized design, as well as a font file to generate your own custom text variations. The pattern provides both the charted version pictured in the sample knitted by Gwen Wagner-Adair and instructions for making your own unique version. The intermediate difficulty level indicates that knitters should have experience with circular knitting, colorwork, and basic shaping techniques before attempting this project.
