Crochet your own cute cuddly bunny !
The pattern is written in English with UK crochet terminology. Depending on yarn and hook size used, your bunny might vary in size. For the bunny shown in the photos, I used a 3 mm (5/0) sized hook and DK cotton yarn. The bunny turned out to be around 18 cm/7'' in height and 9 cm/3.5'' in width and length.
To complete the pattern you'll need: - crochet hook 3mm - DK yarn 50 g (125m/137yd) colour A for the body 0.5 g (1.25m/1.37yd) colour B to embroider nose, eyes and belly button 5 g (12.5m/13.7yd) colours C, D and E for the granny square blanket - tapestry needle for sewing - toy stuffing - stitch marker
This downloadable crochet pattern by RedFoXCrochet creates a charming stuffed bunny toy paired with a coordinating granny square blanket. The design combines a soft, cuddly bunny figure with a classic granny square blanket, making it an ideal project for creating a complete handmade toy set. The finished bunny is designed to appear in a peaceful, resting position, while the accompanying blanket adds both visual appeal and practical functionality to the finished piece.
This intermediate-level crochet project uses fundamental amigurumi and blanket-making techniques. The bunny is constructed using single-piece and multi-part assembly methods, requiring careful shaping and stuffing to achieve the characteristic sleeping bunny appearance. The granny square blanket employs the classic granny square motif, one of crochet's most iconic and versatile construction methods, which involves creating individual squares that are either joined as you go or sewn together after completion.
The pattern incorporates embroidery details for facial features, including the nose, eyes, and belly button, which are added after the main crochet structure is complete. This technique adds personality and dimension to the finished toy without requiring complex color changes during the crocheting process.
The pattern utilizes essential crochet stitches appropriate for intermediate crafters:
This pattern is designed for DK weight yarn, a medium-weight option that provides excellent stitch definition and drape. The designer used Paintbox Cottons DK in five coordinating shades: 403 (Color A), 407 (Colors B and C), 442 (Color D), and 401 (Color E). The bunny body requires approximately 50 grams (125 meters/137 yards) of Color A, while the embroidery details use minimal yardage of Color B at 0.5 grams (1.25 meters/1.37 yards). The granny square blanket requires 5 grams (12.5 meters/13.7 yards) total distributed across Colors C, D, and E for a multi-colored, visually interesting finished blanket.
Additional materials include a 3mm crochet hook appropriately sized for DK yarn, toy stuffing for filling the bunny to create a three-dimensional, cuddly form, a tapestry needle for sewing pieces together and working embroidery details, and a stitch marker to track the beginning of rounds during construction.
The pattern is presented in UK crochet terminology, which uses different stitch names than US terminology. Crafters should verify their familiarity with UK terms before beginning, as this affects stitch heights and overall gauge. The pattern includes a comprehensive abbreviations section and materials list, indicating a well-organized, beginner-to-intermediate-friendly structure. The downloadable PDF format allows crafters to reference the pattern on multiple devices or print it for convenient access during the project.
As a design by independent designer Jeanette Wagener of RedFoXCrochet, this pattern supports small-scale, artisan pattern creators. The designer permits the sale of finished items in small quantities with proper credit attribution, making this an excellent choice for crafters interested in creating handmade toys for gift-giving or small business ventures.
