Product Description
This cosy sweater is worked from the bottom up and is designed to be seamless. You work the body and the two sleeves first up to the armholes then join them to work the yoke. The Walkies sweater features a set in pocket and thumb holes in the sleeve cuffs, so the cuffs can be worn as hand warmers on a chilly day or folded back to form a cuff. The colourwork design is worked using the stranded technique. The sweater has been designed to accompany the Walkies dog coat and accessory pattern.

Walkies Sweater by Sue Stratford
What is Being Made
The Walkies Sweater is a knitted pullover sweater designed by Sue Stratford, available in nine sizes ranging from 36 inches to 52¾ inches bust circumference. This intermediate-level knitting project creates a fitted sweater with set-in sleeves, designed to be worn with up to 10cm (4 inches) of positive ease for a comfortable, slightly relaxed fit.
Construction and Techniques
The Walkies Sweater employs a yoke construction method, a popular technique in modern sweater design that allows for seamless shaping and customizable fit. The yoke depth varies by size, ranging from 7 inches to 11 inches from the front neck, accommodating different proportions across the size range. The sweater features a traditional set-in sleeve construction with upper arm circumferences ranging from 12½ inches to 17¾ inches, providing tailored sleeve caps that sit smoothly at the shoulder.
The design includes a fitted wrist with circumferences ranging from 8 inches to 10 inches, and a crew neckline with circumferences from 17½ inches to 53.5 cm. The body length from hem to underarm measures between 13 inches and 14¼ inches, while sleeve length options range from 18½ inches to 21 inches when unfolded, accommodating various arm lengths and style preferences.
Yarn and Materials
The Walkies Sweater is designed to be worked in aran or worsted weight yarn, both medium-weight options that create a fabric with good stitch definition and durability. Knitters will need appropriate needles sized for their chosen yarn weight to achieve proper gauge and fabric characteristics.
Skill Level
This project is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex construction methods such as yoke shaping and set-in sleeves.
